The Unspoken Danger of Self-Publishing. I would only add that the same is true of book design. I've seen some self-published books that were beautifully edited, but the layout and cover design were amateur in the worst sense. That does detract from the reading experience. Book design is as much a skill as editing, and an author can't automatically assume that he or she possesses that skill. Dusk (hoping that my cover designs aren't *too* excruciatingly bad)
