Amazon demands monopoly on POD books sold through its store
In the category of News That I Am Oh So Not Surprised At . . . An accurate summary of the crisis. veinglory's post about this, with links. Amazon's response to the criticism. veinglory's response to Amazon's response, which I heartily agree with. PublishAmerica's reaction to the news, which I find rather amusing, though in the right spirit. An April Fool's version of Amazon's perspective.

Currenly I am wondering what Lulu will do. So far PA said no, Authorhouse said yes. I'm thinking Lulu might fall somewhere in the middle.

Don't know whether you've noticed this: Here's a page with the la-*test*-('") updates, including a link to your post. According to that page, Lulu has caved in, but the staff post in question looks ambiguous to me. Lightning Source says that it "will continue to monitor this situation and let you know when we have more information." They don't sound as though they're ready to cave in.

A different staffer commented here: http://podpeep.blogspot.com/2008/04/cherchez-le-lulu.html Still ambiguous

My guess is that they're in a tizzy right now and don't want to say anything official till they've figured out what to do. I prefer Lightning Source's "we don't like this either, guys" slant, though.
