Can I get away with this? How picky are erotica readers when it comes to item legitimacy?
I want to give Anand a hybrid convertible car. I have very specific reasons for wanting that. The hybrid to show he might care a little more about the world around him than he's willing to admit (he'll claim it's for his wallet, but he lies.) I wanted the convertible because I have this moonlit driving/fun scene planned.
Here's the problem. There's no such thing. All of the convertible hybrids are concept cars and not on the market and the story is contemporary (technically JUST before the new Pope passes the whole no gay priests thing--sorry no priests with "deep seated" homosexual urges)
So, do you think I can get away with this? Do you think I can use one of the concept cars or should I come up with a car manufactor and model on my own? I was thinking about a convertible Honda S2000 hybrid (announced and in -*test*-('")ing) or a Toyota Prius (everyone reconized the Prius as a hybrid).
What do you guys think?

In twenty-five words or less, no.
I believe Volvo makes a convertible. Would that do?

ps: They do. Here's a link http://www.edmunds.com/new/2007/volvo/c70/convertible/compact/index.html

You could bend the name a bit. Her new Vulva sat two comfortably and ran for hours on a single charge....
Seriously tho. Think up a name and Google it to be safe.

But the Volvo isn't a hybrid. *pout*
So you guys don't think I can get away with creating a car?

The S2000 is a convertible, it's just not a hybrid. I can't cheat?

Don't see why not. Though, yeah...google the name just in case. :)

Custom car shops could turn a regular car into a convertible. It depends how much you want to spend.
The main advantage of hybrids is fuel economy, you could just look for a car with good fuel economy. Or a diesel.

So you think if I come up with a fitictious (whoa I need to learn to spell) I can get the convertible and hybrid? Make it a H-350 Razor or some such crap. (Two seater, dark green with irridesent flecks, black leather interior, black soft top, dual automatic/manual, six disk cd changer).

Oooo you're RIGHT!

H-350 Apex
All wheel drive
automatic/manual switch
two-seater
six disk cd changer Bose system
hunter green with irridescent flecks
black leather interior
black soft top (automatic)
power window/locks
And then all the normal stuff
That's Anand's car. Probably the nicest thing he owns (gonna stand out even more once I show his apartment. The apartment is nice, but very bare.)
Of course not all the car details will get into the story, but I need to know it.

There ya go! :D

If you're talking about the transmission, you won't get away with that.

Why not? That's actually real.

Yup. I saw something about this, and looked it up. For 20-30 thou, you can have a custom hybrid made from just about any car body. Here's a page of pictures of electric convertibles (these are all made from VW Rabbits, but if you look I'm sure you'll find others): http://www.electroauto.com/gallery/vcabrio.shtml

I doubt it, you'll have to post some links to prove it.
A manual transmission and an automatic transmission are significantly different, physically. Also, the shifter knob for a manual is physically linked with the mechanics of shifting the alignment of the gears in the gear box. That's why it's called "manual". You can't just turn it off.
