I was just about to say the same thing. I've heard this over a number of channels now. I didn't have anything with them but I wish anyone who did all the best.

Tavaran- 11-09-2007

Thanks! I have (had?) two books with them and this is the first I'd heard of it....

faesunshine- 11-09-2007

Yeah, the email came through the authors loop just a bit ago. It's confirmed. LAP/Chippewa is closing its doors. My book with them hadn't released yet, but still. Kind of saw the smoke for a while, but you always hope for the best. Good luck to all my fellow Chip/LAP authors who'll be shopping new homes for their babies as well. Fae

I don't know what I'm going to do. Tainted Past and Selling Foxx were not released yet. So, I probably have a good chance of finding homes for those. Tainted Past is dark and that might be tricky. Full Circle is probably a lost cause. Five Cups from Coffee Time Romance, Four Enchanments from Enchanting Reviews and I haven't a clue as to what Joyfully Reviewed said other than the reviewer liked it--all of that--and it will probably go no where. I'm postively sick to my stomach over this. But, such is life and if I'm going to be a writer I need to know these things are going to happen. I can bitch, moan, complain and cry all I want and that's still not going to change things. Let's hope that my other two titles are strong enough to find homes and that maybe one day I'll figure out what the hell to do with Full Circle.

With Tainted Past and possibly Full Circle, try Phaze. Phaze will sometimes take orphans if they otherwise meet the sub guidelines (your priest fetish is about the only squick I could see). For darker works submit it to the UMBRA line. Those can be edgier and don't need a HEA.

Thanks for the info, both you. I'll check them out. I didn't expect to do anything with Full Circle until I had the sequel done. Tonight I'm wearing my favorite "what drugs are you on?" shirt (I love it everyone else hates it), eating fresh cornbread, playing spades with friends and having an all around cheer me up / pity party night. Tomorrow, I get back to work and I WILL find homes for these stories.

Don't forget Freya's Bower. Orphans aren't excluded from submissions. I doubt the dark content is as big a problem as you think, Cup. You shouldn't worry so much about Full Circle. I mean, I pubbed Loved Him which has borderline cannabilism--gods who eat people; one god who fathered a human race and still eats them. The gods are in their animal shapes when they eat their victims, but it's still borderline cannabilism, plus I touch on the idea of taking in the power of the victims, again very close to the reasons of actual cannibals (who are cannibals by choice, not because of an act of desperation to survive, like a plane crash victim).

I just got the news and while I'm not surprised, it has left me with an orphan and a lesson learned. When I submitted the piece there were smoke signals, but being overly anxious, I didn't heed them. Thankfully, I don't have anything active, no back royalties or anything to worry about. For all who do, I hope everything goes well.

veinglory- 11-09-2007

As there is no bankruptcy on the cards at least it is a clean return so authors can just sub elsewhere.

Dusk- 11-10-2007

I'm awfully sorry for all of you who are left with orphans. I hope your foundlings find homes soon. (Envisions ERWF setting up an orphanage. Naturally, it will run by priests, cupnjava.)

Actually, I was going to send you an e-mail about FB. I'll send that e-mail.
