daily rant i think i'll write a rather un-erotic rant about my current situation. those of you that are so bored you read my posts probably know to which situation i'm referring. for those of you who don't, it's the full-time caregiver situation. my husband and i live with my grandmother and grandfather. technically he's my step-grandfather, but he's the only grandfather on my mother's side of the family that i ever knew, so...
anyway, when i got back today, grandma wanted to make strawberry preserves, so we did. toward the end, she mentions a great-granddaughter might help her make the next batch. school lets out tomorrow. this is in tennessee, mind you. understand, dear reader, that i have no knowledge of any impending visit.
hello, some advance warning?
btw, that's great-granddaughter, aunt, uncle and other great-granddaughter to be exact. you would think i deserved some sort of warning, yes? after all i am the cook, maid, hostess, and god knows what else. i'm not bitching about that aspect of it, i signed on for that, but the part about visitors seems a little inconsiderate.
this is all after my step-father spent a night at the hospital for having what appear to be heart attack symptoms. heart -*test*-('") done this afternoon reports no new plaque. but still going to the cardiologist in the a.m. and is understood that this is an ongoing problem.
so to re-cap, spent yesterday at hospital, last night catching up on housework that didn't get done while at hospital, made strawberry preserves and got first warning of an impending visit that may occur next week.
(sigh)
none of that probably makes a lick of sense, but it felt damn good to bitch about it. :x

Some warning would certainly have been nice ...
Is there any point in setting some rules and limits ... or wouldn't they remember what you'd said?
I'll think of you PJ, and you can think of me, stuck in Yorkshire for the next month. At least there are two of us here, if that's any comfort.

Yes, me too Persephoneate. When I was looking after my father, after he had a stroke, I was really well organised. Used to cook and freeze so there were small portions of things he liked in the freezer. On several occasions I got home to find water flooding the kitchen and everything ruined. When questioned, he said he hadn't liked the little lights on the freezer, so he pulled the plug out...
I know what it's like. Thinking of you.
