For those wanting to push the old envelope though Dark Eden said they want m/m twincest fic. I think this was on the GLBT promo loop Really??? Really. It was a post on May 22 from the Quality_GLBT_stories_links yahoogroup Susan White from DEP said Submissions to DEP must have some level of eroticism but do not necessarily have to be dark and/or edgy. We would especially like some m/m twincest too so if anybody has any they want pubbed please tell them not to be shy!

The last publisher I excavated turned out to be run by authors publishing their own work thru Lulu, but if you want you can pay $2.55 *more* per book to buy it through their own press. Or pay $10 as an unpublished author to submit a manuscript to their "con-*test*-('")" It makes one cynical.

There's also a new yaoi publisher whose first piece (and a big piece) is technically a bit of fanfiction. *sweatdrop* They've been "coming soon" for quite a while now. The really sad part is, they seem to be doing good quality work and providing something that very few other yaoi publishers do--awesome artists. And by awesome, I mean AWESOME. However, I'm paranoid that them getting sued is just around the corner and I don't want to have title wrapped up in that.

There's also a new yaoi publisher whose first piece (and a big piece) is technically a bit of fanfiction. *sweatdrop* They've been "coming soon" for quite a while now. I wonder if that's the one with the big front page disclaimer that was along the lines of "if we publish a book similar to yours you can't try to sue us". They also cribbed Ellora's Cave guidelines and left "submissions@ellorascave" as the email address up for a bit. It's sad because they really did seem to "Get yaoi " and not a lot of folks do.

Nope not that one. There's a thread somewhere around here with that publisher. PM'ing you.

That one is a dead market; its Website has been offline since March.

I had an awful experience with Dark Eden Press and I suggest that this be a publisher to avoid. They were extremely paranoid and unprofessional.

There is nothing wrong with Dark Eden Press as a publisher, in fact they are very professional. I've been with them since their start and they have been wonderful. They are very well organized, have a fabulous response time, and their cover art is some of the best I've seen around. I'm extremely happy with them and will continue to write for them. I think that when people see a new publishing house go up they are a little stand-offish, but we all have to take chances and this one was a good move for me. I mean look at BJ McCall she writes for Elloras Cave, Red Sage, and many others...she's on the Dark Eden Coming Soon page for July 27, 2007. Dark Eden is the start of a promising company and I'm looking forward to being by their side throughout their success! Roxanne Wells

My experience with Dark Eden Press has been very professional. I have no complaints with this publisher. I've always had prompt and curtious responses to all of my questions. In fact, I was very impressed how much my input into my cover art was requested. I'd recommend Dark Eden Press to all of my friends and that's saying a lot.

While Sami might have worded her/his post a bit differently I don't see the point in people signing on the board to negate their comments. It's a given that any publisher will have people who've had great experiences working with them and also a fair amount of folk whose experience was not what they thought it should be for whatever reason.

Sami- 07-18-2007

Barb is right. I should have worded it differently. I should have wrote that this was my experience with them. I could have caught the folks there on a bad day or whatever. I only hope for the best for DEP and their authors.

Honestly, I signed on because I wanted to be here and voice my opinion. Was I not supposed to do that? I am a relatively new erotic writer and signed on here to keep informed and to check out the site, but ran across this post and felt I should reply. I hope that was okay. Roxanne Wells

I'd just like to add my two cents, and say that so far my experience with Dark Eden Press has been wonderful. They were very quick to reply to my submission and any questions I had.

Roxanne Wells Welcome to the board! I didn't mean to come off as cranky, sorry if it seemed that way.

veinglory- 07-18-2007

If you sign on primarily to rebutt an opinion it pays to be address that right in the post and say who you are and how you became involved in the press and whether you have any personal connection to them, what they have done for you so far and whether you have received the first check. Otherwise it is easy to assume you are the publisher, their spouse, alter ego, friend or Personally I think all opinions go in the mix but only specific facts (I sold 50 copies in the first month, they respond promptly to emails, they kicked my puppy) mean very much as people go in with different expectations and also get treated differently. One persons good is another's terrible.
