Firefly luv
Okay, those of you who have been fans all along are gonna laugh so hard at me for this, but I have recently fallen madly in love with the series Firefly, which sadly didn't last long. I didn't even know it was on when it was actually on TV, dammit, so now I have to make do with the DVDs. Which isn't bad, you know, because I can watch every episode a hundred times if I want. not that I have... **cough** So who else is a fan? Who else has that strange emotional combo of simultaneously wanting to be Captain Mal and to have him? Who else loves the banter and the silliness and the nail-biting action and the theme song? Who else wishes like crazy that it was back on??? discuss

I haven't come across this one before, Ally. What's it about?

Firefly is a s f series with a western sensibility. It reminds me slightly of blakes 7 to the extent the heroes are up against a multi-plant dictatorship which has already won the war and so they never are going to win. p.s. the series is over but the movies based on it 'serenity' also just came out on DVD

What Em said :D It's sort of a western in space, only more, with the political things going on and all. The characters are endearing, the plots are interesting, and the banter is totally fabulous! favorite line: In Our Mrs. Reynolds, when Saffron is about to complete her seduction of poor Mal and they both know it, and he says "Oh, I'm goin' to the special hell." I laughed sooo hard, both at the line itself and the way it was delivered. Too funny :D um... are the Reavers in the movie? no wait, don't tell me!

I haven;t seen it yet--say it in borders but even on sale $22 ouch! I think I have a voucher for 50% off that I can use...

Firefly was top of the line SF and I think it may only have crashed as a series because the top execs of the network(s) were more interested in giving money to stupid reality shows instead of a smarter show that would only draw a smaller audience base. That aside, it has a movie. So check it out. The timelines directly follows the series. And I love Jane. Love him. Total asshole. Perfect for getting fucked by a guy. The actor could easily pull off a scene where he does a guy and shrugs and calls it spur of the moment good. He's that good an actor. But too bad the series ain't still on.

Em, my husband found a set of all the episodes - including three that had never aired - and the movie for a pretty good price. I forget where, someplace online I'm sure because that's where he buys everything. I'll ask him :)

OOoo...I LOVE Firefly! I didn't know when it was on tv either. The way I found it was through the Sci-fi channel having a Firefly marathon. Bought Serenity the next day, LOL. Mmmm....Mal *drools*

Little Miss Impulse Control here was offline the last hour or so because she was off buying a copy of Serenity

I have to admit I loved Firefly too. My husband and I watched it when it started on tv and new that it wasn't going to last. It was too good and we enjoyed it too much. I need to get serenity and watch it. I don't watch too much tv and I tend to forget things are on. But I love that show Supernatural. It has some continuity problems but otherwise the characters are wonderful.

Oh, Serenity! We saw that at the cinema just before Christmas and really, *really* enjoyed it, especially the humour. :D I knew it was based on a tv show but everything I saw said that the tv show was also called Serenity, which is why I didn't know about Firefly. Go figure.... :?
