I really don't think slash is the same as yaoi. Not that I know much about the latter, but certainly what seems the accepted standards, it smacks more if inequality in yaoi. Or maybe I'm just too naive and hoping that slash isn't as girlie as yaoi seems to me. :lol:

Yes, but it still smells like yaoi. Some yaoi is girlie and shallow. Insulting and sterotypical, but some of it is quite moving. Slash probably is more equitable, but there's something about the painfully and impossibly beautiful long-haired ultra sexy men in yaoi that keeps drawing me back. I cringe at some of the characterizations, but I love looking at them.
