Free e-book giveaway: its impact on one author's print sales
I'm a bit suspicious of the limited amount of data available, but still, for what it's worth, Tobias Bucknell's thoughts. "What I do find interesting is that giving away a book free seems to have had about the same impact on my novel's sales as getting nominated for a major award in terms of direct sales."

"What I do find interesting is that giving away a book free seems to have had about the same impact on my novel's sales as getting nominated for a major award in terms of direct sales." I can see that being the case, Dusk. While I realize many here believe in the future of e-novels, I'm still skeptical that most readers will ever be willing to read an entire book on a computer screen, or shell out the money needed for a hand-held reader. No doubt some will, but most won't. However, readers who have neither the time nor inclination to read the opening pages of a novel while in a bookstore, might be willing to do so at home. If they enjoy the excerpt, then buying the print version so they can read while in bed or their favorite chair, would seem a strong possibility. But I've been wrong before. Bayou bill 8)

Ok giving away free stuff... especially in the "Erotic" industry... has GOT to work.. to some extent.. or there would not be 60 Billion "Free" Pr0n Sites on the internet... it has to have some effect and it can't be bad...
