Freya's Bower submission question I believe from reading the various forum posts, I've seen an editor from Freya's Bower hanging around.
My question is this:
The submission guidelines state to send a query letter with a 1-2 paragraph synopsis and the 1st chapter of the manuscript. What do you send if the submission is a short story with no chapters (there are scene breaks but no chapters)? I saw special instructions for Bites but not for Short Stories.
Thanks!

I'd say you could send the first 2500 to 3000 words, to the nearest good story break, as this is in the range of a Bite, and in the Bites instructions, FB wants only the first Bite with a query letter and not the second. It stands to reason that for a short, 3000 words is in the right area to submit for your short story, as these are listed under 15000 words in any case.
And yes, I'm one of the editors. I'll double check with the boss, but you won't upset anyone on the submission line by sending in the first 3000 words of your short story. You can advise, at the end or top of the excerpt, that the story isn't cut into actual chapters. That should be sufficient.
I'll post this question on my editors forum just to be certain, however. :-)

Yes, I just confirmed this. Go for 3000 words approximately.

Wow, it's been a year since I asked this question? I didn't realize it had been that long. I finally got up the courage to submit the story after all this time.

A year goes by fast. Hopefully I'll be posting a similar message in a year.
Cheers to your success!
