How do we find an Agent? Hi all!
As I research submitting my novella... I am finding that publishers... okay the bigger houses, want manuscritps -- actually only the first three chapters and a synopsis -- submitted via an Agent. Okay so that is proving to be a bit... sticky.
Any suggetions on how to located a couple of Agents who represnet romance, let alone sensual/erotic romance manuscripts?

Agents are unlikely to be interested in a novella. Even for novels a good agent is as hard to get as a publisher.
Are you sure you aren't mistaking 'no unsolicited manuscripts' for 'no unagented queries'?
The fomer just means you need to send a query letter first. Harlequin, Tor, Black Lace et al don't require agnts.

I am not sure now that you asked.
I will have to go look again.
Thank you for the more then helpful clarification.

Not that I've tried to get an agent, so you never know. It might open up the hifher paying markets--there are erotca and ER agents out there.

Higher paying markets so you can pay the agent... right :?
But you are published and have manuscripts in print... and did this without the use of an agent... right?

If you're talking print publishers, many/most don't require an agent for submissions in the erotica/romance genres. For e-publishers, definitely not. They don't pay enough for an agent to be interested anyway.
Agentquery.com and the standard writer's boards, like Absolute Write and Backspace are good places to start your search. Having an agent, though, doesn't guarantee you a sale. But it's an asset to have one in your corner:).
Good luck with your search!

As for me, in print -- not so much. three anthology sotries and a small press POD coming up. But I know that big erotic publishers along the lines of Black Lace don't seem to be bothered about agents and certaonly don;t require them. The main area it might help is in romance and even then it's a leg up not a necessity.
