Is my idea original?
We've all had 'em - those wonderful ideas for plots that appear in a blinding flash of light. Then we tell our best friend/beta/significant other and they say 'oh heavens it's been done a thousand times before'. Well, here's a good place to post the idea *first* and find out if it's as original as you thought it was, before unleashing it anywhere else! (And before you waste the next 3 years of your life writing it up into a nine-part novel series LOL).

Story Idea, mostly het, f/f/m
Ok, I have this idea for a story that I would like to throw out to the members of this group. please tell me if this is an original idea or if the concept has been so overdone that I should drop it idea like a costive lover. I would hope to develop this thought into a finished story. My working title: Pleasure Doing Business here's my one sentence blurb: Corporate spies mix business and pleasure trying to gain knowledge when forced to work together. Cindy and David are both hired as consultants for the same company and forced to work together. Cindy and David are not just consultants but corporate spies who hire themselves out to the highest bidder. Information of other corporations is commodity in their business and it is to be gained by any means. Cindy is furious at first as she knows she will be in direct competition with the other consultant. Sparks fly when she meets her competition, in more ways than one. After a late night at the office and a few drinks at a quiet upscale bar, Cindy puts her plan in action and forces herself onto David in order to gain knowledge of the organizations David had worked for. It turns out to be the best night she can remember and that’s not all Mark’s charm is doing to her. Her feelings for him become more serious but does he feel the same? Was this just a one-night stand? Worse yet, is he using her? Or, is she using him? Cindy feels guilty after pumping David for information and tries to avoid him. Now David takes control and arranges a weekend with Cindy filled with the fulfillment of fantasies and taboos. Their sexual banter is a guise for the true nature of their union. Cindy only took the job to help her best friend as she builds her to the international level. Cindy begins to suspect that Michelle knows what she was doing when she hired both consultants to work together but Michelle tells her that she hire David because of his reputation for overseas business (I'm considering have a little f/f scene as the two women have known each other since high school and experimented sexually after graduation.) Nonetheless, Cindy is upset about David succeeding in gaining information from her when she could not get it from him that she decides she will leave as soon as the project is over. When the job is finished, Michelle invites Cindy and David to her cabin to celebrate their success. Michelle coerces Cindy and David into a threesome and convinces them to divulge inside information about other lingerie companies. Whose plan was this anyway? Could the best friend/business owner be the mastermind behind the whole affair? At the end of the story, the lingerie boutique seems to grow more quickly than a business should and Cindy and David join forces and form a high-powered consulting partnership working exclusively for the friends lingerie company. Tell me what you think of the Plot bunny/idea. Give me the good, the bad, and the ugly. Of course I know that the characters have to be fleshed out. I have already begun writing even though not at the beginning. The proposed market for this would be Erotic Romance with an e-publisher such as Dark Eden Press as a short or "Just Sex" or "Quickie." I'm shooting for 10-20K words but who knows. JL Stratton

Good... it looks good... I like the premise and the power behind it... but... there needs to be a bigger fish on the frying pan then a novelties type store or clothing line... that part seems a bit... just like trying to put "Sex into every part of the story" aspect... but that is just me... I like the main premise... I like the twists and turns and the possibility for emotional damage and double plays are endless in what you have.. But here is my problem... She sleeps with David... and who is Mark.. and what does his charms have to do with anything..? or is Mark David and you have no decided if his name is Mark or David yet? Ok secondly... if Michelle hired David... she does not need Cindy to pump David for Info... because David works for her... gets a tad confusing... I think there needs to be the fact that Cindy and David are working for perhaps a competitor of Michelle, and Michelle is trying to go international... and this Michelle is using Cindy to pump David for info... Great point to put the FF into the picture now, to help Cindy get over David and put her game face back on... allows for there to be some really developed emotions in this mess. I like the Cabin deal... add a fitting end especially if you play it right that Michelle is the mastermind behind them working together... and.. that can be an explosive FFM threesome... It seems rather Mr. Mrs. Smith however... but I like how it twists at the end and leaves open perhaps new levels of double cross... it seems rather unique just needs a bit fleshing out... the spy game seems to be overdone in most cases... but that does not mean anything... as people enjoy Spy novels and if you plan it right it can be explosive and sexually as well as leaving you at the end with a whole lot of... "Wut?"
