It's almost time!

And my laptops broke! I'm gonna have to write at home! Which means writing during offwork hours, rather than before work and during lunchbreak. I was getting about 2.5k that way ... I'm sure I'm going to plunge down to just the requirement of 1.6k a day, if that! Still, I'm in. But no write ins for me.

Yeah, I don't own a laptop. *sighs* Maybe next year. I'll still do at least the first write in. The others will depend on my word count.

I find it almost totally infuriating! How do people write under these conditions?! Let alone write a book! But I guess I used to write fine before I got a laptop ... which actually wasnt all that long ago. And I'm use half the people on this forum probably get on fine without one heh.

My friend writes on an Alphasmart (I think that's what it's called). I'm lucky enough to have a laptop from work :)

Actually sometimes when I'm blocked switching to a notebook works wonders and vice versa. Sometimes I hate the effort it takes to type it in, but I find myself editing as I do so it serves a purpose.

I was actually desperate enough that I was looking to see if my PSP, IPod or cellphone took external keyboards for any applications ... and I did consider moving to paper, and using a form of shorthand and entering in what I'd written that night, followed by more while I was at it. As it turns out, a co-workers husband is an electrician, and given I've spouted on endlessly about writing and Nano (and I have a rep as someone whose laptop is glued to them), she asked him to have a look at it for me. Hurrah! I hope he can fix it. I'm sure it's just a loose wire.

Squeeeee! It's fixed, I've been told! I was gonna post today regardless. Today is pretty much my 'weekend off before Nano'. Time for planning a bit and trying to get my story sorted. I still aint got one of the characters right yet! The main characters sorted, but the other keeps changing in and out.

I'm really impressed, MP. I'm still dithering about which story I'm going to write! Actually, I think it's going to be a novella and two short stories. I suspect that's going to be more difficult than writing straight through, but there are a couple of things I actually must do in November, so I'm going to include them. Worth a try! There's a local meet tomorrow in London; I'm toying with the idea of going to it. Just a bit resistant because it means going into central London on a day off.

I'm not sure if there are any meets or write ins here. I've made contact with two locals. At least I have the laptop to do it with now though I guess! Heh, well just before all this crap went down I was doing a pre Nano nano, but I got sick and it stalled. And then theres my vamp story!

I'm still psyched about it, but work may overrun me... we'll see.
