I made a request about this in another thread at ERWF (where the problem popped up), but the problem is continuing, so I'm wondering whether it's possible to have a rule about this: asking people to put URLs into links (by HTML or BBS or by using the "URL" button on the reply page) rather than pasting the URLs into the thread. When they copy and paste, the text lines stretch out to accommodate the length of the URL.
I'm sympathetic with folks who find that step too complex, and I realize that a post like
forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=5140>this is quite readable in 12-point type. But at 28-point type (which is what I read in), I can only get two-thirds of the text on the page. I can go down to smaller type at this time of year, but come winter, I'll have to copy and paste threads like this into a word processor in order to be able to read them.
(I'm not trying to pick on the person who started this particular thread. It's been happening a lot, with various posters.)
