Strengths: A Confidence Booster
Yes, a confidence booster. I've spoken with many writers who feel they aren't very confident in their writing abilities. I've been there; we all have at one time or another. So I want to put out a confidence booster. As writers, we all have strengths. Whether your strength is creating characters that everyone loves/hates or beautiful settings that whisk the reader away to another world, you have at least one. The point of this exercise is to list those strengths. This is done simply to boost your confidence as a writer. When you're confident as a writer, it shows in your writing. Mine: Creating characters that others can sympathize with easily. Powerplays Sex scenes involving powerplays NEXT!

Hmm I think it's creating a plot arc with full beginning, middle and end. The occassional turn of phrase. BTW Liz, I certanly second yours and would add that you have the rare ability to combine big dramatic, magical events with characters that have real, believable motivations just like everyday people.

:oops: Thank you, Em. Yes, plot arcs are definitely a strength for you. You have an unbelievable talent when it comes to putting an entire story, complete with conflicts, sensuality, and resolutions, into a short story when it would take most people an entire novel to accomplish. (Your star-cross vampire story specifically comes to mind.) It's an incredible talent!

For me, I think my plots work out rather well. And I have a good ability to develop a char, during that plot, that helps a reader understand the character. As well get the reader to fully understand my chars' feelings and thoughts.

right now I'm waiting on them both to come out... The one in Rode Hard is f/f, and I had a story accepted for the Torquere Cowboy Up anthology, which will be top, I think. (mine has an Argentine gaucho and an old west American bank robber ;) ) I have a few in the works too, but the closest to a cowboy *novel* that I have out is Jumping Into Things at Torquere, though those guys are more western men in general. If you really like cowboys? Try out BA Tortuga. Start with Menagerie or Back Forty, single shots with Torquere, or maybe A Cowboy for Sara (het) from venus Press.

Humm....I've been told that I create well-rounded characters and that my dialogue is realistic. *shrugs* Guess I'd say those were mine.

I'd second that! And I'd add that you have an unnerving talent for leaving your readers on the edges of their seats. *grumbles* LOL
