Right, this is how my day has gone so far. I went up into what used, laughingly, to be called the study, and searched the boxes and boxes of computer disks until, astonishingly, I found the scanner software.
I reinstalled it, nervously, as it's an all-in-one with the printer, and I can't afford to have that stop working.
I got a message saying 'your scanner is not connected.' Oh, but it is, because the integral printer is still working. Frantic investigations on the web scare me stiff, as people are talking about the complete failure of this kind of printer. It is recommended to turn off all firewalls and virus checkers so this is what I do.
Nothing. Whatever I try, the computer seems serenely unaware that it HAS a scanner. I decided I'd have to go and buy another one.
As a last resort I deleted the software AGAIN, conscious that I may be saying goodbye to the printer. And reinstall it. And crawl around on the floor plugging and unplugging things.
And suddenly -- whew! There it is... The contract is now winging its way to Texas (where my editor is) and I'm having a very large glass of Pinot Grigiot to celebrate....

You are all very kind. I wouldn't have sent it off, without the encouragement of this forum.
Hell, I wouldn't have written it at all...

We're evil that way.

Mega congrats Lamia! I read the excerpt in the Secret Workshop and it was HOT *fanning myself* Can't wait to read it when it comes out.

Not a good day. Only 138.
I blame Fiona... I spent my writing time reading 'Roses in Winter'. And crying.
I also tidied up some more of the novels and the synopses and blurbs. It's amazing how long that takes...
I would try to write some more now, but I'm befuddled by heat, exhaustion and Grouse.
Tomorrow is another day....

Well, I've finished the line-edits and the manuscript is back with my editor. So I wait nervously to see what she says.
One really good thing is that she's spotted the places where I need more description. I'm fine on action and dialogue, but tend to skimp on the general picture-painting.

The Facility Trip is almost ready! All the edits done, and it's gone to the copy editor. And I'm waiting for the cover art.
This is really exciting, but it's also making me very tense...
Watch this space!

Eeeeek!

::taps fingers on desk::
Is it here yet?
Now?
Well how about now?
Lamia- 08-23-2006
My editor says, \"They should be hard at work on the cover now...\"
Ooooh!
