Hah! Something twigged in my mind when I said 'slide into'. I shoulda known better that someone wouldn't take it the whole way!

LeighEllwood- 09-24-2007

Phaze does take M/M. It's among our biggest selling genres in erotic romance. I thought we were talking about non erotic M/M?

persephoneate- 09-24-2007

Me and my dirty mind...

cupnjava- 09-25-2007

We were talking about NON-EROTIC m/m?

MauiPotiki- 09-25-2007

Oh, NON erotic? Sorry, I assumed erotic. I did even look back and check that it was M/M when I saw Phaze hadn't been mentioned ...

cupnjava- 09-25-2007

Oh wait... "not overly erotic" is the phrase. Ok, so when you're checking out publishers look for their genres and "heat ratings" or levels of erotic content ratings. M/M contact tends to shove it into the highest or second highest level even if the story isn't that erotic. However, you might find some publishers that have various degress of hotness. Depending on how long it is, you might want to check Erotic Dreams Publishing. Other than that, I think the recs still stand.

Yes, I was after markets where the stories aren’t dependant on being erotic, and that website you suggested a few posts back, cup, looks like a really useful place to start. Thanks. At the moment I am now working on something more erotic, of which I’ve noticed there is no market shortage. Currently 20000 words in, and still going strong. I have no idea what’s going to happen next apart from the fact that there’s more sex in this one story than I have written in my entire life. Really enjoying writing those scenes too, even if one of my characters refuses to get it on with the guy I was hoping he’d eventually end up with.

Thank you slash and yaoi fans for wanting more than fanfiction to feed your needs. I'd be willing to bet there are more female readers of gay erotica (in all it's sub-types) than male. It's a great time to be alive and even better time to be a writer!

A lot of publisher that are of erotic romance don't require more than one sex scene in a short novella, e.g. Loose Id

Ash- 09-26-2007

Loose id looks like an interesting one. Just been reading up on their submissions guidelines, and I see they require the kind of story I’d like to be writing, if only my characters would do exactly as I tell them and stop developing wills of their own. I think I’m going to have to do some research and buy a few of the published books in the genre (contemporary, probably) that I’m most interested in writing for.

Any scene of M/M was shunted to the highest rating. I've since gone back and readjusted all the ratings of our books. I'd say with Phaze, Tangled Web by Jade Falconer is our "tamest" M/M erotica.

veinglory- 09-26-2007

I am so happy to hear that PhazeEditor, eventually it needs to sink in that homosexality is an orientation not a kink.

And we have one more thing to add to the "Why Phaze is Awesome" list! ^_^ (Just to be clear, there was NO sarcasm in that.) It's nice to know that Phaze is trying to give an accurate description for their titles.
