WANTED: mm markets Not sure if this is the place to ask, but does anyone know of any mm markets (not overly erotic) that are looking for longer stories, as in over 5000 words +? I’ve been googling for ages without much success, a lot of the markets listed on this forum aren’t suitable, or they’ve disappeared. As most of my stories are more gay fiction than slash, I’m not having much success in finding suitable homes for them.

Off the top of my head, Kensington, Haworth, Alysson?
Yeah! I think I'm like one of few M/F writers here...(sniff, sniff)

Haworth is now out of the fiction business after a merger with another academic publisher, and supposedly trying to find another company to take over its fiction contracts. The last we were told was that they hope to have it settled by the end of the year, but I don't think the chances are good.
As far as marketing m/m stories that aren't overly erotic, if they fit into a genre like mystery, science fiction, historical, etc., you might try sending them to publishers of those genres who don't specialize in m/m but might take some for variety. Romance, though, doesn't seem to be as open to "variety" as some other genres.

A few publishers there to check out. Thanks. I might what I’ll do in future is have a market in mind when I write something, rather than look for a market to fit the story. I’ve been looking mostly at ezines on the net, and a lot of them want stories under 3000 words, and I wish I could write something that short but I like to take time to develop characters, relationships etc, so most of my stories are double that.
I'm sure I'd be more suited to writing a novel-loads of e publishers out there- but I'm trying to -*test*-('") the water with short stories at the moment just to see if anything I write is worthy of publication.

Phaze (someone said Phaze right?) and Torquere both accept stories of varying lengths (look at me! almost sounding like an old hand at this!). I tend to write things at all lengths, and traditionally have a horrible time keeping erotica short. Thankfully both of those press are options for me because no matter what I write on length, chances are they'll have a category it can slide into ...

You said, "...slide into..."

You mean ambidsexterous?
Yeah, that was bad and obvious. Who is sending me to their room?
Anyone?
Anyone at all?
Don't force me to make another bad pun. I can S.A.M. if I need to!
