just pondering. how much of yourself (physical and personality traits) do you apply to your characters and writing? have you ever put yourself, even an idealized version, in a story?

veinglory- 03-26-2006

Well many of my characters are slightly introverted geeks of one sort or another... so... um, no. Excuse me while I go paraglide of a mountain with a boytoy under each arm.

And many of my have a rather snarky and flippent sense of humor... which I am told I do.

I have never put myself, or a version of myself into a story, but I do have an semi-autobiographical novel brewing, so I intend to do so at some point in the future.

*grins at James* What?

Put myself in a story? I'll let you know if I have delusions of godhood. Or goddesshood, or somethinghood. Or just a hood. I do have a hood somewhere. On my winter parka. Does that mean I've put myself in one of my stories full of gods? Do I have a dick? No. Dick for having a dick. So that outs the delusions of godhood theory. I guess I must be in there in general, dicking with my fictional dicks. I guess that makes me god to my gods. Or I mean goddess to my gods. "I say dick unto you! Just dick! Do your dicks proud! Or else! Kazaap! Idiot. If you don't use it, you don't get to keep it. Out with you! No non-dickers in my stories! Out! And Goddess said 'Let there be a lot of dicking around!' And so there was." Um. What was the question?

God I love you Karen... No I can't say that I really do it. Though I've had characters that I could say were like me in one form or another... usually because they were mischievious... but they're usually more different than alike.

Lately I've been putting dogs in my stories because I love dogs and have never been without one. I have a rowdy, girl black lab named Madison. In my recent story I used her nickname. Yes, I nickname my pets. Her nickname is Maddy and I morphed her into an adorable little beagle for this particular story. So I guess I am using part of myself in my stories. My stories are all set in rural or the woods of Montana where I live. It looks like I'm adding more of myself since I'm writing about where I live. And everybody and their dog has a dog in rural Montana. :P Sage

Yeah, I've done that, put vague versions of my dogs into stories. All beloved dogs deserve a place of glory. :-)
